Health & Safety
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) directs compliance initiatives in occupational safety and health. Through regulations, OSHA helps business protect their workers and reduce the number of workplace deaths, injuries and illnesses. OSHA regulations require businesses develop written safety policies and procedures for managers and employees to use as guidelines. The development of a documented and effective safety and health program that exactly fits the needs of an organization is critical to the success of any company. When employees stay safe and healthy, businesses can reduce workers’ compensation insurance costs and medical expenses, decreased payout for return-to-work programs, reduce faulty products, and lower costs for job accommodations for injured workers. Indirectly, additional benefits such as improved moral and productivity, lower training costs due to fewer replacement workers and decreased costs for overtime have also been attributed to OSHA’s research and guidance.
In general training employees is an essential activity for any business. Training provides employees with the key knowledge, skills, and tools that they need to perform their job. This is equally true with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) training for the same reasons and benefits for EH&S compliance. The question becomes what type of training does my business need? First we need Orientation Training. This is training that an employee will receive when they first join the business or begins a new role. This type of training is designed to provide the employee with the essential skills, knowledge, and tools needed again to perform their job. The next step is On the Job Training. As the name suggests, on the job training, is training provided during the regular performance of duties. And finally there is Periodic Training. This type of training is required by regulatory requirements and/or recommendations as well as Employer Policies, etc. Employees are retrained at an interval that will assure the employee’s retention of the training materials and to reduce Employer risk and liability. GREENCORP, LLC can assist you with all three types
